Who Says Corporate Speak is Dumb?

You know what we’re talking about. We’ve all done it. We’ve made fun of companies, or more likely individuals, who always over-use corporate speak. They probably don’t even know they are doing it. It becomes hard to decipher what they are saying because they “take their core competencies offline, even if it’s low hanging fruit in order to disrupt the ecosystem!”  We happen to have that guy at Techcycle Solutions. But here’s the big difference. With this guy, he delivers his “corporate speak” in a way that we all actually like it. It’s endearing. It’s usually funny or motivating.

Does Our President Know We Play Matt Paperi Corporate Bingo? The answer is “yes.” In fact, we keep a running list of “Matt Paperi-isms” on a whiteboard in our Think Tank conference room. Well, OK, what are they you say? Glad you asked.

Here’s the inaugural list of Matt Paperi-isms:

“I’ve gotta buddy that…” Insert cleans windows, rebuilds engines, owns a meat packing company…

“Did you send me a calendar invite?” Proof that he never really checks his Google Calendar.

“I like stickiness.”  Enough said.

“Have you met me?” His way of saying, “don’t you know how I operate by now?”

“Yeah, no, yeah.” Matt verbalizing how he thinks. Great idea, no that’s a bad idea, actually yes that’s a great idea!

“Easy, Tiger.” Matt not talking about Tiger Woods or a zoo animal. Just his verbiage for caution or “Dude, you’re about to make a really bad decision.”

“That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.” Matt sticking to the strategy.

“Stay in your lane.” Not Matt yelling at the driver next to him. Matt providing leadership and focus.

“123 Go Team!” Matt’s approach to culture and team-building. It works.

So, Please Tell Me Why This Matters? Honestly, it probably doesn’t. But we thought it might give you some insight into our boss and the president of Techcycle Solutions. He really does have some words of wisdom and we can’t wait to add to the list of Paperi-isms.
